Aardman Animations Ltd

Aardman is an award-winning animation studio creating film, broadcast, advertising and interactive entertainment. We also distribute and license our own brands.

Aardman is committed to ensuring our workplaces are inclusive and free from any type of discrimination, but we recognise that we have much more work to do to achieve representation within our workforce as well as increasing the level of on-screen diversity in our future projects. This is particularly true regarding representation of race, which is something we have been thinking about and interrogating ourselves about a great deal since the death of George Floyd and #BlackOutTuesday.

We want to use our voice to help bring about change in our industry and – equally importantly – ensure that our words are backed up by real action to bring about change closer to home, at the studio.

Why were we on the programme?

Our workforce and our content at Aardman don’t yet fully represent the people, approaches and backgrounds of the talent in our world. We’re more ready than ever to listen to lived experience and support diverse talent into the creative industries, from entry to board level. We want to learn what we need to do differently, to make opportunities for people to get better and fair access to support and ultimately jobs.

We are excited to be part of this programme and are grateful to WECA and other partners for driving through an agenda inspiring some much needed change in our industry.
