Our goal is to convene the best photographers, filmmakers and creative professionals with the most committed conservationists to create compelling stories about the natural world; that inspire the wider public to experience it, feel part of it and protect it. Wildscreen is a non-profit organisation that operates through Wildscreen Exchange, a hub that empowers conservation organisations with powerful media, Wildscreen Festival, an internationally renowned celebration of natural world storytelling and Wildscreen Network, a community of members that nurtures international industry talent.
Why were we on the programme?
Our aim is to use Wildscreen’s position in the Natural History industry to set goals, encourage and give achievable landmarks for sustainability and inclusion in the industry. We recognise that alongside the wildlife filmmaking industry, Wildscreen needs to strive towards being more inclusive and sustainable in everything we do.
2020 saw the first ever virtual edition of Wildscreen Festival, this was the charity’s most inclusive event to date. Over 1900 delegates of all ages and stages of their career came together across the globe to enjoy our digital programme. What once was an exclusive, industry-focused event has become an inclusive, worldwide celebration of the best stories about the natural world. Following the resounding success of the festival, we now need to continue to push for change within our organisation and the worldwide industry. Our experience of this programme will shape decisions around every network event, outreach project and festival that Wildscreen hosts in the future, as the natural world is for everyone.
